Better education, better life, better world
Our Reasoning and Approach
Background
In the 70's, we became aware of the catastrophic effects of climate change.
We didn't act for another 50 years, because it didn't feel scary enough, or because it was inconvenient for us.
Activists have offered ample insight that many of the items we purchase, are created through human and environmental exploitation. And yet, even with being offered this information, we still consistently choose to buy. Either because we actively avoided learning about the supply chain horrors, or because we are simply indifferent to them.
Our purchases are a figurative and literal financial endorsement and encouragement to the company that built this cruel and destructive production process.
However noble, fighting to solve climate change, war, slavery, or any other form of human and environmental exploitation, is feeding humanity a fish. They are merely symptoms of a more fundamental problem. To teach humanity how to fish, is to resolve the problem that caused all other problems to exist and persist. The only holistic solution to our problems is to prevent them. The way to do this, is to ensure all following generations will effectively learn wise and prosocial decision making.
Even if you succeed at resolving plastics pollution or malaria and proudly look back at your life, you'll look forward with the same horror that so strongly motivated you to solve those problem in the first place. Except, it's worse this time, because you've run out life, and cannot do anything about the new problems. Because now you'll realize all your efforts and noble successes have been in vain, because nothing has fundamentally changed. Our primary goal should be to solve the irrational and unethical decision making that lies at the source of all these problems. Because only then upon our deathbed, can we look forward to a future in which humanity can genuinely be trusted to take good care of itself and those around it.
So, our goal:
Life on this planet that can be prosperous for all, without some parts of humanity thriving of of the exploitations of each other and our planet.
To trust the next generations to build a better world than those before us. So that we can look to the future with genuine optimism, not because we impressively cured a few of our painful symptoms, but because we've enabled our descendants to cure itself.
We didn't start the fire, but we could be the generation to turn it off.
How are we gonna achieve it?
The education system has huge leverage on shaping the behavior of us all, but it's currently neglecting its potential and responsibilities. So, we seek to use this leverage in a more productive way, to thereby shape the next generations to be loving, considerate and wise. We seek to contribute to the long-overdue overhaul of education.
Assessing the problem: Why current schools fail at this goal
Before we can make an attempt to solve a problem, we must first thoroughly understand the problem. See our 21 theses to find out where we think current education system are falling short, and have thereby become the sponsor of most of humanity's problems.
How we are going to fix it
Our philosophy on education, and how will concretely resolve the identified problems with previous education systems in a manner that can be transferred over many generations without loss of efficiency. That's what technology allows us to do.
Yes, lessons captured in technology. History is cyclical, which means we repeatedly repeat the mistakes of generations before us. This can only be true, because we fail to effectively transfer those lessons of wisdom between generations. An age of enlightenment dies with its fires. But before us lies an incredible opportunity. Never before was it so easy to transfer knowledge indefinitely. Technology can scale up the effectiveness of knowledge transfer of books by a factor infinity. We can immortalize wisdom, and transfer it to all children effectively, by the use of technology. Videos, movies, podcasts, audiobooks, AI, the internet, AR and VR, etc. These are absolute gamechangers in the apparently failure-prone task of transferring wisdom across generations.
Everything we need to know to live an awesome life, is already known. Millenia of thinking, wonder and trial-and-error, have uncovered every corner of human wisdom we need to empower ourselves and each other with great lives. We need not discover any new ways of thinking or being. All we need to do, is absorb it. We need not discover the hard way, if we'd be effective enough at learning the wise way. Great thinkers of the past would love nothing more, than for us to blatantly steal their wisdom for our collective happiness.
Btw, this does not mean we should stop exploring, science-ing and inventing. Curiosity and continuous improvement is a trait of good lives.
What life in our schools will be like
Our Philosophy also outlines subjects, lessons, schedules, policies and more of what a great education system ought to contain and avoid.
Our learning platform to transfer the material into brains
The vehicle that transports our pupils and teachers through the material over time, and transports the material into our minds.
This is the technological solution.
